All users must have a valid account in infoRouter before they can access its secure resources.
infoRouter user accounts are created by the System Administrator and are stored
in infoRouter's own security database. Your user account is what identifies you
both to the system and to other users. It allows you to check documents in and
out, and it allows you to be granted permissions within the document and folder
security framework.

| Windows Authentication: |

In this mode, users are authenticated directly by LDAP. User accounts can be imported into infoRouter
directly from LDAP. When a user attempts to log into infoRouter, their
credentials are authenticated directly from Windows and not infoRouter. Any
changes to user passwords do not affect infoRouter access. Click here to learn

and Groups.

| infoRouter Authentication: |
| In this mode, users are authenticated directly by infoRouter (even if they have been imported from LDAP). This mode is commonly used in environments that support a number of users who are not a part of the NT/2000 library (e.g. clients, vendors, etc.). In this method, all users are maintained inside of infoRouter. Changes to user passwords must be performed within infoRouter. |
Mixed Security Authentication: |
It is possible to have a set of users who authenticate from Windows and another set of users authenticate from infoRouter. The "Authentication Type" setting in the "User Properties" window determines whether a user is authenticated from Windows or infoRouter. |
